Are you a dedicated Orthoptist or Optometrist with a passion for patient-centred care and professional excellence?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Orthoptist or Optometrist to join our Ophthalmology team at Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau, Auckland delivering high-quality orthoptic and optometrist assessments and management across our diverse community.

About the Role

In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of comprehensive ophthalmic care across our busy secondary and tertiary services.

You will work as an autonomous clinician while being fully supported by ophthalmologists, orthoptists, optometrists, nurses, technicians, and allied health leads.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Delivering accurate, efficient, evidence-based assessment and management of ophthalmic patients
  • Running independent and linked clinics, and supporting consultant-led clinics
  • Managing a varied caseload, including paediatric and / or adult patients depending on your scope
  • Performing detailed diagnostic testing and interpreting results
  • Contributing to service development, teaching, and clinical audits
  • Upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity principles, and culturally safe practice
  • Working collaboratively the delivery of regional services across Counties Manukau, and other Northern region sites.About You
  • You will be a dedicated, adaptable clinician who brings professionalism and enthusiasm to your practice.

    Youll be confident working both independently and as part of a team and committed to providing excellent care to a diverse population.

    Essential Requirements :

    For Optometrists :

  • NZ-recognised Optometry qualification
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience
  • Therapeutic endorsementFor Orthoptists :
  • Recognised IOA or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experienceYoull also bring :
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving and clinical reasoning
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
