- This role has a clinical component which is based primarily in Older Persons Health while also supporting other wards throughout Burwood Hospital as required

- Registration with the NZ Social Work Board and an Annual Practicing Certificate is essential

- Our Social Work team covers all areas of Older PersonsHealth and Rehabilitation based at Burwood Hospital.
We use a collaborative MDTapproach to working alongside individuals and their support networks to helpmanage changes in their physical and mental health.Our Social Work team is part of a collaborative healthsystem, where everyone works together to achieve positive health outcomes forpatients, their families / whanau and communities.
We guide people to navigatethrough their health journey whether it be a chronic disability or a temporaryissue.
We have a strong commitment to empowering and enabling people withintheir social context and believe in client self-determination and autonomy.This role will be responsible for the day-to-dayprofessional leadership of the Social Workers in the Older Persons Healthinpatient wards at Burwood Hospital.
Your leadership skills will shine as youprovide professional guidance and supervision to clinicians and foster aculture of continuous learning and improvement.In this role you will be responsible for :
A clinical case load within Older Persons Health, taking responsibility for own clinical supervision, and fulfilling responsibilities for own performance appraisal.Working in partnership with the Social Work Clinical Manager to ensure the appropriate skill mix and number of staff to meet current and future service demands.Ensuring team members are informed of current and new / revised Health New Zealand Social Work policies and procedures and obligations to comply.Assisting the Social Work Clinical Manager with the recruitment, selection, induction, training and development, performance management, annual performance appraisals and supervision of the Social Work workforce.Supporting and assisting the Social Work Clinical Manager to undertake performance appraisals, coaching and mentoring of direct reports.Ensuring legislative requirements are met in relation to professional practice and registration of direct reports.Ensuring professional supervision of direct reports is undertaken as required by the profession and Health New Zealand Canterbury Supervision Policy.Leading education and training initiatives for our social work clinicians and play a crucial role in supporting and facilitating projects that enhance the quality of care provided to our clients.Working alongside our Hospital Leadership team, providing Social Work perspective and engaging in wider service improvement and governance initiatives.About YouEssential :Current NZ registration & APCBachelor's Degree in Social WorkMinimum 5 years of clinical work experience in Older Persons HealthExperience in clinical teaching, supervision, and staff developmentStrong leadership skillsExperience in quality improvement activities and policy developmentCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthKnowledge of NZ Health & Disability sector standards and Privacy ActDesirable :Full Driver's licenceWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuringexcellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.We embrace a workforce thatis diverse and inclusive so that we are better positioned to understand andservice our community
