The opportunity :
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our incredibly talented Engineering team in our Christchurch operation.
You will be responsible for leading, converting and delivering design briefs as supplied into detailed designs and working drawings. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with leadership qualities who is confident in their ability to take ownership in a team environment.
Key responsibilities include :
- Establish design briefs which define key project deliverables, both time and cost.
- Provide leadership to design office team members.
- Proactively contribute to design process improvements.
- Using Solidworks to convert and deliver design briefs / project objectives into detailed designs and working drawings.
- Managing (as required) the work of assigned Design Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
- Providing technical expertise to our mechanical design team.
- Setting up and testing mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems at any Scott site or customer site if required.
- Liaising with the workshop and contractors during the construction of any equipment designed to ensure smooth and trouble-free manufacture.
- Maintaining effective records and documentation.
- Certifying all technical documentation pertaining to all projects.
To be a great match for this role :
Bachelors / NZCE or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.5+ years of demonstrated experience in machine design / Automation.The ability to design, document (in Solidworks and AutoCAD) and commission Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems specific to the automation industry (essential).The ability and experience to develop design solutions from a sales brief.The ability and experience to design and document pneumatic and hydraulic systems.Possess ability to operate PC based applications (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel etc).Ability to operate SolidWorks, AutoCad or Draftsight. (Essential)Basic understanding of the requirements of relevant legislation.Ability to prepare and present reports and ideas.Excellent communication skills and proven ability in following client specifications and building relationships.The ability to work in New Zealand.ABOUT SCOTT
