The Sands in Browns Bay is looking for a full time Sous Chef to join their passionate and dedicated kitchen team, in a fixed-term capacity.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the Executive Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen
- Expressing your creativity and passion for cooking through high-quality meals
- Ensuring food is prepared and presented to the highest standards
- Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, helping to build a strong, collaborative team
- Assisting with menu planning, stock control, and food safety compliance
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment
- Helping to deliver exceptional customer service and dining experiences

What You’ll Bring
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience in a senior kitchen roleA completed culinary apprenticeship or equivalent qualification / experienceStrong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a teamA passion for food presentation and flavourExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsSafe food hygiene handling certificates – Safe Food NZQA 167, 168, 20666 or 27955A positive, proactive attitude with a team-first approachAbility to take ownership, use initiative, and maintain high standardsRespect for resident privacy and confidentialityFlexibility to work rostered shifts as neededFull working rights in New ZealandWhat We Offer
