Kaikoura District Council is seeking a capable and motivated Three Waters Technician for a 12 -month fixed-term contract working full-time hours.

We're looking for someone who's committed to protecting both our community and our environment, while working efficiently and collaboratively with all stakeholders.
You'll need a broad skill set, sound judgement, and the ability to know when to seek support.
In this role, you'll be our in-house specialist for water, wastewater, and stormwater services.
ResponsibilitiesEffective routine day-to-day operation of Council's 3 Waters (water supply, wastewater and stormwater) services.Systems Performance Monitoring and ReportingAsset ManagementProject and contract managementRegulatory complianceTechnical analysis and reportingCustomer and stakeholder engagement
Qualifications and experienceUnderstanding of water treatment systemsMinimum of 3 years' experience in a similar roleFamiliarity with current regulatory and quality control frameworks for water servicesHighly developed interpersonal and communication skills and cultural awarenessWell-developed computer skills particularly Microsoft Word and ExcelHigh level written and verbal communication skillsProven ability in performing a range of tasks under competing demands, and producing a quality result, consistently on timeInitiative, the ability to think and act 'ahead of the curve' and proactively follow upTertiary qualification in engineering, environmental science or other potentially waters related disciplineLocal Government experience, would be an added bonusKnowledge of reticulation construction and maintenance, would be desirable, but not a deal breakerExperience of managing projectsExperience in management of contractorsAll applicants must hold a full driver's licence and have the legal right to work in NZ
