It is a joint national initiative of the Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) and Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga (HNZPT) and is administered by HNZPT.The programme currently operates in four regions (Te Tai Tokerau Northland, Te Tai Poutini West Coast, Waitaha Canterbury and Otago) and is rapidly expanding into other regions across Aotearoa New Zealand, working towards being a nationwide programme.
Working with iwi and community partners, Tohu Whenua seeks to launch historical and cultural sites of significance across the Tamaki Makaurau Auckland region as part of the network.Tohu Whenua is seeking a Pou Whakahaere Kaupapa Project Manager to manage iwi and community engagement, lead the site selection process, coordinate the development of storytelling material and organise launch events.
The role is part of a small team based in Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga and will work closely with regional staff from the partner agencies.
The role will report to the Kaiwhakahaere Hotaka Programme Manager, Tohu Whenua.The ideal candidate is an experienced project manager who is familiar with the Tamaki Makaurau Auckland region and holds strong relationships there, including with iwi / Maori.
They understand the history of the region, key historical sites and the tourism sector.The salary for the position is $70,585 - $83,041
