Parkinson's Health Professional - Taranaki

Parkinson's New Zealand Charitable Trust is dedicated to helping clients and their whānau ‘live positively with Parkinson’s’. We achieve this by providing information, education and support through our nation-wide network of community-based staff supported by a national office team.

Overview

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic person with experience in either health, or allied health. If you have great communication and interpersonal skills, a service focused approach to your work, enjoy working in the community together with the ability to sometimes work remotely via phone or by telehealth, then this could be the role you have been waiting for. Applicant can be based in the Taranaki Region. Work hours around 24 hours per week will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessment for clients (face to face and via telehealth)
  • Collaboratively develop care and education plans
  • Liaise and refer to Doctors to meet client needs
  • Liaise with Nurses, Allied Health and Volunteers to meet client needs
  • Deliver education programmes to clients and health care professionals
  • Work as part of the National team providing information, education and support to people with Parkinson’s, in person within your region and out-of-area clients via telehealth platforms

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Qualified health care or education professional with a current practising certificate in New Zealand
  • Affinity to work with people experiencing loss of capacity due to this degenerative neurological condition
  • Preferably three years post-registration experience
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education
  • Te Reo or Pacifika language skills are an advantage; experience in working with culturally diverse clients

The role is autonomous, with regular team meetings to ensure support with patient load, and an open-door policy from the Clinical Services Manager who leads the clinical team.

    Vaccination and Safety

    Your safety and that of our clients is important. You are required to provide proof that you have completed your primary course of NZ approved Covid-19 vaccinations (i.e. first two vaccinations).
