Northern Southland College is a secondary school located in the rural community of Lumsden, Southland. Surrounded by picturesque landscapes it is also close to the great adventure and outdoor activities of Queenstown and Te Anau.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative head of department for science. This is an exciting opening for a teacher who is passionate about teaching and is either an aspiring or experienced leader. A small department, previous teaching in senior science subjects will make this an excellent opportunity to work and grow in a highly supportive environment.

The successful applicant will be :

• Passionate about educational equity as well as a focus on working in and promoting a knowledge-rich curriculum.
• Committed to education and open to learning.
• Experienced or innovative when developing science programmes.
• Interested in fostering whānau and community relationships.
• Value the importance of embedding Te Ao Māori within the curriculum.
• A team player and willing to be supportive of a team culture.
