Chef - Shalom Aged Care, Whangarei

40 hours per week - Monday to Friday.

Do you have a passion for preparing and delivering a top-notch food service? Do you have the skills and the know-how to work in an aged care kitchen? This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meals for residents at Shalom Resthome, Whangarei.

You will be involved in the cooking and service of all meals, the day-to-day running of the kitchen, and supporting our client and their residents’ smiles. You will prepare meals for around 30 residents and have responsibility for 2 direct reports with the evening / weekend staff. Excellent communication, food safety knowledge, and pride in producing consistent, delicious meals are essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve wholesome food
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
• Advise kitchen staff on cooking procedures and techniques
• Demonstrate understanding of, and ability to implement New Zealand Food Control and safety regulations
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard-free environment
• Work unsupervised
• Understand rostering, ordering and budgeting while following our balanced menu
