Mercury operates five geothermal power stations, all within an hour's drive of Rotorua and Taupo, managing over 100 geothermal wells.
In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering geothermal well interventions and new well construction projects—setting them up for success by building effective teams, developing clear procurement strategies, and implementing proactive risk management.
Your work will ensure that new wells and interventions are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards, in line with our policies and best practices.
You'll be directly involved in expanding New Zealand's renewable energy generation, helping to lower the nation's carbon emissions and supporting Mercury's leadership in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

As a member of our Drilling team, you\'ll drive continuous improvement and future success by managing projects and contracts to meet stakeholder requirements.
You\'ll ensure projects are completed within approved budgets, scopes, and deadlines, while upholding Mercury's technical, quality, safety, risk, and environmental standards.
Key responsibilities include :
Leading project teams executing drilling and well interventions
Safely delivering geothermal well projects for long-term value
Managing relationships with customers, contractors, and stakeholders
Mentoring Project Managers and Engineers, and contributing to team knowledge
Focusing on safe outcomes aligned with Mercury's policies and procedures
This role offers a blend of office-based and on-site work in Rotorua, with the flexibility of our hybrid working environment.
Our Rotorua team embraces the outdoor lifestyle, with mountain biking, trail running, fishing, kayaking, hunting, and tramping all nearby.
Tertiary qualification in relevant engineering or related discipline with membership of a professional instituted is desirable
Experience in a project management position and demonstrated proficiency in the drilling industry (geothermal preferred but not essential)
Excellent working knowledge of project management and engineering principles and practices, together with an understanding of power generation plant
Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays)
