You'll be instrumental in maintaining and evolving this platform, ensuring it remains robust, responsive, and aligned with the needs of our building trade customers and internal stakeholders.In this role, you'll do far more than provide support, joining a high-impact, collaborative IT team where you'll play a key role in shaping the future of ACE that powers everything from inventory and pricing to customer transactions and delivery fulfilment across our nationwide branch network.
Responsibilities
Maintain and enhance the ACE (Progress 4GL) ERP platform
Deliver system improvements that streamline workflows and elevate user experience
Modernise legacy components while ensuring platform stability and performance
Collaborate with business analysts and operational leads to deliver scalable solutions
Provide responsive support and contribute technical input to business-led projects
Location and employment : Based on site at our Support Office in Penrose, Auckland.
This is a permanent full-time role, offering 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with business-critical after-hours on-call responsibilities as required.
About you
To succeed in this role, you'll bring proven experience working with Progress / Open Edge or a similar ERP system, along with a strong understanding of how enterprise platforms enable operational efficiency and business continuity.
Solid grasp of database architecture, system integration, and performance optimisation
Confident working in a Linux-based environment, with scripting capabilities
Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and operational stakeholders
Comfortable using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to support development, documentation, or problem-solving
Industry experience in construction, building materials, or distribution are advantageous
