About the role

Reporting to the Legal Counsel - Employment Relations, this role plays a part in leading and governing industrial and employment relations for AT, ensuring they are legally compliant and align with our organisational goals and values, and enable the delivery of the people and performance strategy.

You will be an in-house subject matter expert for employment relations and will (together with the ER Lead) be responsible for growing this capability across the organisation and will play a key part in the management of our union relationship.

The role works collaboratively with the P&P team and other key stakeholders across AT to create an environment where our people and teams are empowered to deliver Easy Journeys for Tamaki Makaurau.

This is also an opportunity to contribute to Auckland's evolving public sector landscape, with the role playing a key part in supporting the organisation through the Transport Reform Programme.

Responsibilities

Play a key part in supporting the organisation through the Transport Reform Programme.

Empower leaders across AT with expert coaching and guidance on complex ER matters.

Permanent opportunity, Viaduct Location.

Be an in-house subject matter expert for employment relations and help grow this capability across the organisation.

Help manage union relationships and collaborate with the P&P team and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

A tertiary qualification in law.

Minimum of 4 years' experience (PQE) in an in-house legal role providing employment relations advice or specialising in employment law at a law firm.

Ideally hold an NZ Legal Practising certificate or be eligible to hold one.

Previous experience in providing coaching and advice to people leaders.

The ability to understand business issues and demonstrate a business focus.

The ability to build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external).
