Are you an IT professional ready to step into the fascinating and innovative world of electricity distribution?

We're looking for a curious, adaptable, and hands-on Operations Technology Engineer to join our team and help shape the systems that keep our energy network running safely and reliably.

This is not your everyday role, you'll be diving into a unique Operational Technology environment where your IT knowledge will be valuable.

You'll work with specialised systems like ADMS, load management platforms, Linux, databases, scripting tools, containerisation, and observability platforms.

From supporting frontline teams to delivering innovative solutions, you'll have the chance to develop deep expertise in a niche and future-focused field with the support of a collaborative team that values problem-solving, innovation and curiosity.

The role

  • Support, develop and maintaining our operational technology systems that operate Orion's electrical network.
  • Trouble-shoot, script and analyse data to solve complex issues that don't come with a manual for answers
  • Work on large-scale, high impact projects ensuring robust testing and compliance every step of the way
  • Collaborate across teams, vendors and service providers to ensure secure, reliable and user-centred OT solutions
  • Bring fresh ideas and energy into a team that is passionate about the future of the OT space

About you

  • IT or Engineering background or equivalent hands-on experience - we value your skills as much as qualifications
  • Confidence with Linux, Red hat and Oracle databases and scripting to solve real-world challenges and a familiarity with Shell scripting and deployment automation tools (e.g., Ansible)
  • Curiosity to learn modern tools like our ADMS system along with learning tools to perform system monitoring, anomaly detection, log analytics and alerting; all the fun stuff
  • A natural problem-solver where you enjoy diving into technical issues and finding a better way of doing things
  • Willingness to build and develop expertise in the electricity sector where your curiosity, creativity and initiative approach will shine
  • A strong collaborator and team player with excellent communication skills where others can rely on you
