Supporting whānau to thrive starts while pēpi is still in thekōpū (in‑utero) - here at Whānau Āwhina Plunket we deliver Pregnancy and Parenting Education courses in an effort to make the journey into parenthood that little bit easier.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and qualified person to support expectant mothers, fathers and whānau as a Pregnancy and Parenting Education Facilitator (Childbirth / Antenatal Educator) in Rangiora. With the flexibility to commit to as many courses as you can manage, this is a great opportunity to share your passion with whānau, while working around your own needs - be it whānau or other mahi.

You will deliver Pregnancy and Parenting Education (also known as antenatal) courses to expectant parents and their whānau. Providing education and support on healthy pregnancy, labour and childbirth, breastfeeding, immunisations and the early parenting stages.

Delivered either in an intensive two day weekend session or across six weeknight evening 2‑hours sessions, we are able to equip whānau with knowledge and practical tools to feel confident, informed and empowered as they head in to the final weeks of their pregnancy while simultaneously supporting their ability to form connections with other parents in the same stage of life.

While it is an exciting time, delivering this information in a fun, engaging manner can be the difference in starting their parenting journey in a positive manner. You'll create a space where participants feel safe to ask questions and build relationships.

Responsibilities

You will deliver Pregnancy and Parenting Education (also known as antenatal) courses to expectant parents and their whānau, providing education and support on healthy pregnancy, labour and childbirth, breastfeeding, immunisations and the early parenting stages. You will deliver either intensive two day weekend sessions or six weeknight evening sessions, equipping whānau with knowledge and practical tools, ensuring evidence‑based information is provided, and fostering a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• A Childbirth Educator qualification or have a background as a Midwife or Registered Nurse.
• Experience in adult teaching and / or facilitation.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can effectively coordinate and plan the education sessions to meet the needs of expectant parents and whanau, ensuring delivery of evidence‑based information.
• Holds a current full NZ Driver’s licence.
