Akonga at Te Kura choose subjects based on their passions and interests, accessing learning online supported by kaiako who guide, inspire, and drive engagement.

Alongside this, kaiako provide pastoral care and connect with akonga through regular huinga ako — online or face to face — where learners connect, receive guidance, and strengthen their sense of belonging.We're looking for a dedicated kaiako with expertise in English to join our Northern region, based in our Whangarei tari (office).

In this role you will : Support akonga to engage deeply in learning that is aligned with their goals, passions and interests.Facilitate regular huinga ako (online and face-to-face) to provide pastoral care, connection, and personalised learningProvide constructive feedback and feedforward on akonga learningCollaborate with colleagues and whanau to create flexible, engaging learning experiences.You will bring : New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificateStrong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment practicesA calm, inclusive, and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral careConfidence using digital tools to connect with learnersEnthusiasm for collaborative, values driven teachingA genuine interest in learning and embracing te reo Maori, with a commitment to growing your skills.Physical address : 11 Portland Crescent, Thorndon, Wellington
