About the Role
Kimihia Home & Hospital is urgently seeking an experienced Senior Health Care Assistant to join our team. This leadership role supports Registered Nurses and Clinical Leaders, supervises HCAs, and ensures exceptional resident care to provide personal care and support to residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist RNs with personal care and clinical tasks
- Administer medications (with current competency)
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold safety standards
- Role-model best practice in aged residential care
- Assist residents with personal cares (showering, toileting, mobility, pressure area care) as per care plans.
- Respond promptly to call bells and resident requests.
- Contribute to a safe and tidy environment, following infection control and health & safety protocols.
- Attend training sessions and participate in team meetings.
- Mentor and support new staff (Level 3 HCA).
- Advocate for residents and promote their independence.
What We’re Looking For
Qualification : At least NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Health Care Assistance (or equivalent).Previous experience in aged care or healthcare support (minimum of 3 years).Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work calmly under pressure and as part of a team.Commitment to cultural sensitivity and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.Physical fitness appropriate to the role.Flexibility to work rostered shifts (24 / 7 service).Why Join Us?
