Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Legend Story Studios – Newmarket, North Island

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who loves building things end to end — from clean, scalable backend systems to sleek, intuitive front‑end experiences. You’ll be joining a small but highly capable team where your ideas actually shape the product.

You’ll have the freedom to experiment, move fast, and take ownership of key parts of our stack. We value engineers who care about writing great code, but also about why they’re building what they’re building.

What You’ll Do

Build and ship new product features across the stack — from infrastructure, backend & API design to UI.

Build and validate proof‑of‑concepts, prototypes, and MVPs

Be a member of a cross‑functional team, working closely with product, design, and other engineers to turn ideas into reality.

Write high‑quality, maintainable code that scales.

Help shape our technical direction and architecture decisions.

Own the software you build — from development through deployment, monitoring, and production support.

Improve developer experience, tooling, and processes to keep us moving at pace.

Continuously improve the existing codebase.

Mentor teammates and contribute to a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

Must‑Haves :

5+ years of experience building and delivering modern web applications.

Strong skills across both frontend and backend development.

Solid experience with React.js and TypeScript .

Comfort with backend frameworks — Python / Django experience is a big plus.

Ability to design and implement scalable APIs — both REST and GraphQL.

Strong database fundamentals ( PostgreSQL , MySQL, or similar).

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and cloud environments like AWS .

Hands‑on experience running and operating production systems — monitoring, debugging, and ensuring reliability.

Experience with Docker or other container tools.

Familiarity with Git, CI / CD, DevOps practices, and modern dev workflows.

A pragmatic, problem‑solving mindset and eagerness to learn.

Nice‑to‑Haves :

Background working in Agile or fast‑moving startup environments.

Passion for great UX and building products users love.

Experience with 3rd parties integrating with your own APIs.

Experience in playing trading card games.
