The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Sterilising Technician looking for a change?
We are currently seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic Sterilisation Technician to join our team.
We have a full-time permanent position available for a qualified Sterilising Technician to work variable 8-hour shifts, between 7am to 10.30pm Monday to Friday, with an occasional weekend shift.
As a Sterilising Technician you are responsible for providing optimum patient care through effective decontamination, preparation, sterilisation and maintenance of reusable medical devices and equipment for Theatre.
Your responsibilities will include
- The decontamination, inspection, assembly and sterilisation of surgical instruments.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records of sterilisation processes.
- Ensuring the optimum function of equipment through established work practices and quality controls.
- Adherence to AS 5369 : 2023 Standard and procedures as set out in the CSSD Quality Management System when reprocessing reusable medical devices.
- Collaborating with the theatres to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
- Maintaining professional and positive relationships with CSSD colleagues and other staff.
- Contributing to the department’s quality improvement activities.
To be successful in this role you will
- Have demonstrated experience in a hospital Sterilisation Unit.
- Have achieved L4 NZ Certificate in Sterilising Technology or be working towards this certificate (or Level 3, if completed prior to 2019).
- Be willing to work toward and maintain registration with NZSSA.
- Have experience in Endoscopy or be willing to train in reprocessing endoscopes.
- Have meticulous attention to detail and apply the highest level of quality to your work.
- Understand that the key to success lies in our team operating in collaboration with one another and you will have the ability and disposition to enhance cooperation and teamwork.
- Be known for your clear and professional communication skills and your ability to remain calm and collected in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Have basic-intermediate computer skills and an openness to learning.
