Apple Bud / Flower Thinning & Pruning Positions

OverviewWe're looking for reliable and hardworking orchard workers to join our apple teams in Lower Moutere, Motueka.

This role is hands-on and essential to ensuring our orchards produce high-quality fruit.

It's ideal for people who enjoy working outdoors, don't mind a physical job, and want to be part of a friendly, collaborative team.

Reasonable fitness is required, as the roles involve working on your feet throughout the day and regularly climbing ladders during apple thinning.

Apple Bud / Flower Thinning & Pruning Positions - 8 positions

Dates : Approx start 24 September till 12 October

Position description : removing excess buds and flowers and pruning uprights

Rate : $23.50 + 8% holiday pay ($25.38)

Working hours : Weather dependent.

Monday to Friday (7.30am – 4pm with increasing to 9-hour days later in the season).

You must be available to work weekends (mainly Saturday).

Kiwifruit worker - 14 positions

Dates : Approx start 13 October until 26 November 2025

Position description : bud thinning, tip crushing, string training and general orchard work

Rate : $23.50 + 8% holiday pay ($25.38)

Working hours : Weather dependent.

Monday to Friday (7.30am – 4pm with increasing to 9-hour days later in the season).

You must be available to work weekends (mainly Saturday).

Apple thinner

Dates : Approx start 26 November until 24 December (some positions available in new year)

Position description : Removing excess fruitlets and poor-quality fruit from the trees, using a 2.4m ladder

Rate : $23.50 + 8% holiday pay ($25.38) or / and contract (piece) rates

Working hours : Weather dependent.

Monday to Friday (6.30am – 5pm; 10-hour days).

You must be available to work weekends (mainly Saturday).

We have some flexibility in working hours to accommodate working parents and students.
