Te Puni Kokiri leads policy advice to the Government on Maori development, and Iwi and Maori relations with the Crown.

To do this effectively we must position ourselves to elevate our monitoring and mentoring responsibilities and emphasise our role in holding other agencies to account for delivery of public services to, for and with Maori.

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Senior Analyst to join the Te Reo Maori team.

The Minister for Maori Development has a priority focus on promoting the use and preservation of te reo Maori within the current funding envelope, by using a range of government levers that are available and celebrating Maori culture and success.

This extends to our strategic priority of Te Ao Maori and focus area of Te Whare o te Reo Mauriora & Broadcasting.

The Senior Analyst, Policy will be involved in this important mahi, including preparing and drafting policy documents to support the wider Maori revitalisation priority.

The likely appointment range for this role is between $104,317(90%) and $115,907 (100%) per annum.

The full salary range of the grade is $104,317(90%) and $139,088 (120%)

Ko wai koe | About you

We are looking for kaimahi who :

  • The mix of knowledge, skills, practices, and behaviours required by a modern policy practitioner to be able to deliver quality policy advice.
  • Bring effective written and verbal communication skills to ensure the timely, accurate preparation of documents and delivery of policy advice.
  • Are comfortable in an ao Maori environment and situations where tikanga is observed.
  • A level of competency in te reo Maori is ideal or having the willingness to learn.
  • Understand the machinery of government, the role of the Te Reo Maori tima and wider policy mahi.
  • Bring an adaptable mindset to their mahi, resilience in the face of change, and remain calm under pressure.
