Do you want to be part of the team powering a smarter, future-focused electricity network?

As one of New Zealand’s largest electricity networks, we operate in some of the most dynamic and challenging environments in Ōtepoti Dunedin, Central Otago / Wānaka, and Tāhuna Queenstown.

Why join Aurora?

We’re seeking interest from suitably qualified candidates, to join us as our Network Access Team Lead. Why? To lead a small but critical team responsible for keeping power flowing safely and reliably across our network.

This is your chance to step into a leadership role where your technical expertise and people skills will directly shape how we deliver safe network access, minimise outages, and improve reliability for our customers.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and develop three experienced Network Access Planners, building a collaborative, high-performing team

  • Monitor and manage outage deferrals and deliver accurate SAIDI / SAIFI reporting
  • Work closely with Transpower, embedded generators, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth coordination
  • Drive system and process improvements across ADMS, OMS, and Maximo

What you’ll bring

This is a unique role, and we’re looking for a unique set of skills. You could already be in Network Access and Outages, looking for a step up, you understand the inner workings of this environment, and the co-dependencies between teams and departments to keep information flowing and relevant.

OR you could be joining us from a supervisory role in the field, where you understand the other end of the supply chain, where you’re embedded in the actual processes of ensuring safe outages, switching, and managing outage protocols and processes. Either way, you’ll bring :

  • A background in HV electrical distribution, network operations, or outage / access planning with a minimum of 5+ years in your trade
  • Strong knowledge of switching and access processes and protocols
  • Leadership skills or step-up potential with proven ability to guide and support people (or the willingness to learn)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with reporting (SAIDI / SAIFI) and planning systems (ADMS, OMS, Maximo)
  • What’s in it for you

  • Get rewarded – generous salary, strong benefits including boosted Kiwisaver afterone year, and the backing of a values-led organisation
  • We value safety, teamwork, and innovation, with a culture that’s inclusive, supportive, and diverse.
  • Live the lifestyle in Dunedin or Central Otago– Dunedin offers rugged coastlines, historic charm, and zero-hour commutes. Cromwell is great for families because it’s safe, affordable, has excellent schools, plenty of outdoor activities, and a friendly community in a stunning central location.
  • This role is ideal for someone already experienced in network operations or outage planning, or a technically strong professional ready to step into a leadership role.
