  • Key senior role to contribute to the BreastScreen Aotearoa programme
  • Location : National
  • Fixed Term for 24 months, full time (1.0FTE)

About the Role

We have the opportunity available to join the National Public Health Service (NPHS) Prevention Directorate as Business Functional Lead . This is a fixed term, full‑time role.

The Business Functional Lead is responsible for overseeing the alignment of business processes, systems, and services within the BreastScreen Aotearoa programme. This role ensures that functional requirements are clearly defined, solutions are fit‑for‑purpose, and delivery aligns with strategic objectives.

About the Team / Service / Location

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population‑level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

As a Business Functional Lead, you will bring demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage teams in an environment of change, financial prudence and an increasing level of digital maturity across the organisation. You will be a natural problem solver, have good political nous and understand the healthcare ecosystem. You will have proven relationship building skills and well‑developed communication skills. Due to the wide‑ranging nature of the work in this role, a varied background is welcome.

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills required to investigate business processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Proven relationship building skills and well‑developed communication skills.
  • Ability to apply technical strategies, policies, standards and practices effectively.
  • Demonstrated intuition and the ability to balance good process with the need to make clear decisions in demanding situations such as priority service outages.
