Head of Department - Respiratory Medicine

Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty provides acute secondary level medical care for the people of the Western Bay of Plenty at Tauranga Hospital. We are seeking expressions of interest, from within the service to undertake the role of Head of Department (HOD) for Respiratory Medicine. This role works in partnership with organisational and service leaders (Medical, Nursing and Business leaders) alongside other service clinical leads to support the development and progression of the organisations strategic plan. The key aims of the service are to ensure access to high quality specialist care, alongside supporting the Te Whatu Ora goals of reducing health disparity and improving outcomes for Māori. This role differs from many other Head of Department positions in that there is a small number of direct line reports, with the role having an active focus on contributing to the operational delivery of Respiratory medicine. If you have an interest in frontline service leadership, skills in finding solutions to acute and longer-term service delivery challenges and a genuine interest in delivering the best care to patients and your colleagues, this role provides the opportunity to gain leadership skills and experience. This is a three-year tenure. The successful applicant will have one day per week of their current FTE allocated to the leadership responsibilities.
