About the Role
As Research Database Manager, you will play a vital role in enabling high-quality, ethical, and efficient health research across the Northern region. You'll work collaboratively with researchers, biostatisticians, and national research teams to design, implement, and manage research data management platforms — including tools such as REDCap, SQL, and other electronic data capture systems. Your work will ensure data is collected, stored, and analysed effectively, supporting the integrity and success of research projects that contribute to better health outcomes and greater equity. You will also provide research advice on study design, protocols, and analysis plans, facilitate research data governance, and promote best practice in data management across all research activities. This role offers the opportunity to lead improvements in research systems and support the delivery of the organisation's Research Strategy while upholding Māori data sovereignty principles.
About you
You are a technically skilled and detail-oriented data professional who is passionate about improving research quality and supporting innovation through strong data systems. You combine expertise in data management with a sound understanding of research processes and governance, and you thrive in collaborative, cross-disciplinary environments.
You will bring :
Desirable experience includes project management training, experience in health or clinical research, and familiarity with the Statistics NZ Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI).
