Overview
New Zealand Blood and Organ Service is a one of a kind organisation in New Zealand. It is a complex business that is clinically driven, and patient focused. It manufactures blood and blood products, manages extensive tissue banking facilities and is the national agency responsible for organ donation. Whilst Government owned it operates with the pace and agility of a commercial organisation but with additional governance.
The Opportunity
With increased demand for the therapeutic services (apheresis and venesection) the organisation currently provides to health sector clients throughout New Zealand a new Therapeutic Services business unit is being developed to further expand the service offering across public and private healthcare organisations. This is an exciting greenfield opportunity to contribute to the establishment and growth of the service, where the main goals are to minimise inequities and optimise clinical outcomes for patients through the delivery of professional and consistent therapeutic services nationally.
The Role
The newly created Business Development Manager role is part of the Therapeutic Services team and reports to the Clinical Director - Patient Services. The key purpose of the role is to drive strategic growth by identifying, developing, and executing business strategies and opportunities aligned with the organisations therapeutics capabilities and strategic direction.
Key focus areas include assessing business opportunities, developing and implementing strategic plans, contributing to service improvements and expansion, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, performance monitoring of services, and managing commercial aspects for the service such as business proposals and cases, cost analysis, pricing, budgets, and client and contract negotiations.
