Earthworks Supervisor

Jones Group 2021 Ltd is a family business dedicated to the quarrying, landscape, civil and bulk haulage industries in Taranaki

Due to retirement we are seeking an experienced earthworks / civil supervisor that will help our team move forward in the industry!

The candidate will take the lead for onsite operations ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of earthworks projects. As supervisor, you will be responsible to lead, supervise and motivate a team onsite including subcontractors through daily operations. Your tasks will include operating various heavy machinery whilst completing earthworks, drainage, roading and construction tasks. This role will work on a variety of sites from driveways to residential sites / landscape projects to commercial sites. You will be assisting with coordination of staff and subcontractors, interpret drawings and specifications, and pricing. You will be assisting to enforce safety and QA / QC standards, and keep the project on schedule. Reporting to the General Manager.

Key duties

• Operate heavy plant and machinery from excavators, mid mount, dump trucks, rollers, and other general construction equipment. An experienced Grader operator would be beneficial
• Supervise daily activities of excavation, grading, trenching, compaction, utility works and other associated works to drive crews productivity onsite.
• Assist with planning and sequencing of work with the General Manager; interpret drawings, specs, pricing, to ensure we deliver works to plan and on budget.
• Ensure safety compliance, collaborate with toolbox talks, and enforce site rules and regulations.
• Monitor quality of work, perform inspections, and enforce QA / QC standards.
• Coordinate with equipment operators, suppliers, and subcontractors manage deliveries and onsite resources to ensure targets are achieved.
• Facilitate site records (daily timesheets, progress photos, variations, health and safety improvements)
