This hospital based role improves access to services and requires a flexible approach to work across a variety of health care settings including all areas of the emergency department.Matanga Tapuhi Nurse Practitioners combine advanced nursing knowledge and skills with diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic knowledge to provide patient-centred healthcare services including the diagnosis and management of health consumers with common and complex health conditions.The provision of coaching, mentorship and / or supervision for nurses in a variety of settings will be key to the success of the role.
As one of six key operational groups across the district's provider services, it supports care ranging from primary to tertiary level and serves not only the local community but also the wider Central Region.
Operating across Wellington Regional, Hutt, and Kenepuru Hospitals, the group delivers responsive and high-quality care to a diverse and often high-acuity patient population.Hutt ED is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
The team is highly adaptable, responding to a wide range of presentations, including a significant number of Maori, Pasifika, and elderly patients with complex health and social needs.

With a minimum of four years' clinical practice within your defined scope of specialty, you have developed comprehensive knowledge of the New Zealand health system, the District environment, and the systems and processes that support high-quality emergency care.As a highly skilled clinician, you are an expert in advanced nursing procedures and confident in autonomous decision-making.
You're recognised as a credible and trusted professional resource within the healthcare team, bringing experience in leadership, service development, and clinical mentorship.
You apply coaching and mentoring approaches to support the growth of others and foster a culture of continuous improvement.You stay current with emerging issues and trends in the nursing profession and are committed to advancing evidence-based practice.
Your exceptional attention to detail, strong time management, and critical thinking skills ensure you provide safe, effective, and responsive care in a dynamic emergency setting.Just as importantly, you bring curiosity, energy, and a willingness to learn.
You value respectful communication and thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment.
