About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Ruby & Cloud Developer (AWS) to join our Enterprise team. You’ll design, build, and support Ruby applications running on AWS cloud infrastructure, working on mission-critical systems that support councils and public sector organisations.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product Owners, QA, Support, and fellow Developers to :
Deliver roadmap features in Ruby and AWS.
Build and maintain APIs and integrations.
Work with MySQL databases (schema design, queries, performance tuning).
Implement CI / CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
Write and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests.
Review and provide feedback on pull requests.
Assist Support with escalated issues, providing sustainable fixes.
Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing.
What You’ll Bring
3+ years’ experience in Ruby backend development.
Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudFormation / CDK).
Proven SQL skills, especially with MySQL.
Familiarity with integration development and third-party APIs.
Exposure to CI / CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred).
Strong knowledge of JSON, XML and structured data formats.
Comfort working in Linux environments, including Bash, Shell, and PowerShell scripting.
Strong communicator and collaborator in Agile environments.
