Co-Existing Alcohol & Other Drug Clinician

Service : Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services

Contract : Permanent, Full-time

Salary : As per PSA ALLIED Scientific and Technical MECA, & dependant on experience

About the Role

A Te Roopu Kaitiaki / co-existing alcohol and other drug clinician / Registered Health Professional (third year of practice onwards) will primarily provide support to youth AOD and mental health services across the Wairarapa region where the services are being delivered, and young people already attend. This will include providing case consultation and specialist clinical assessments for youth with co-existing problems. In addition, this will include advocating for the needs of youth with AOD / CEP within other services.

About the Team

Te Ratonga Aranga Mokupuna Arangi Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (TE R.A.M.A. CAMHS), Wairarapa service in the Wairarapa is a progressive team, situated in an area that covers large rural and urban populations. Our multi-disciplinary team consists of Community Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Community Support Workers, Administrators and Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrists, Kaituriki Cultural Support Worker.

We place a strong value on the team culture and ongoing professional development is encouraged and supported. Our service is well supported by the Paediatrics team at Wairarapa Hospital and we work closely with other services such as the Child Development Team, Special Education Services and Oranga Tamariki. Ratonga Rua-o- Porirua is our forensic, rehabilitation and intellectual disability inpatient unit.

About you

  • Registered Health Professional with a Mental Health and / or Addictions scope of practice.
  • You will have worked in youth mental health and / or substance misuse.
  • You will have strong and demonstrable interest / competency in mental health and addictions practice.
  • You will be confident working individually, with whanau, and in group settings.
  • You will have good networking skills and as well as be able to deliver training and supervision.
  • You will ideally have three years' 3 years experience post graduate practice in youth mental health or substance use disorders.
