Part time, Fixed term, FTTE up to : 0.5, Start Date : 28 / 01 / 2026, End Date : 27 / 01 / 2027 (Project based)

Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher

English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts

Fixed term, 28 January 2026 to 27 January 2027 (project based).

St Peter’s College is seeking an experienced learning support coordinator (LSC).

The LSC will be the central figure, working in close partnership with staff, whānau (families), and external agencies to ensure learners with additional needs are identified early and supported with effective, connected pathways to become confident, thriving individuals.

We are seeking a professional with :

  • Proven experience in supporting and including children with diverse learning needs within a classroom and schoolwide setting.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with students, staff, whānau, and the wider community.
  • The ability to engage effectively and collaboratively at a school leadership level.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and influencing skills to work effectively across the school.
  • A deep commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive practice that upholds the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and reflects an understanding of Te Ao Māori.
  • The ability to use data to inform practice and improve outcomes for our priority learners.
  • A professional practice that meets the standards for the teaching profession.

Key areas of impact :

  • Building Capability : Strengthen schoolwide systems and lift teacher capability in supporting diverse learning, behavioural, and wellbeing needs across the school.
  • Coordinating Support : Lead and coordinate targeted interventions, including managing agency liaison and the Individual Education Plan (IEP) processes.
  • Expert Guidance : Provide expert advice, practical guidance, and professional learning for staff in inclusive and differentiated teaching practices.
  • Responsive Support : Offer calm, solutions-focused support and coaching to colleagues managing complex classroom situations or behaviour management challenges.
  • You must be an experienced, fully registered teacher with a current practising certificate and a strong track record of success in supporting diverse learners.
