About the Role
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki are looking for an inspiring Midwife Clinical Coach to join their team. The position is permanent part‑time, 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week).
The Midwife Clinical Coach provides practical clinical education and support to all members of the maternity team. The role has a particular focus on New Graduate Midwives, Return to Practice Midwives, and Midwives new to New Zealand.
About the Team / Service / Location
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki maternity service comprises a secondary maternity unit located in Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth, and a primary maternity unit located in Hawera. At the secondary unit there is a combined birthing suite and antenatal ward, and a separate postnatal ward. There are six birthing rooms, a birthing pool, seven antenatal beds, and 16 postnatal beds. The primary birthing unit has one birthing room with pool and four postnatal beds.
In 2026 the maternity unit at Taranaki Base Hospital will move into a purpose‑built new unit. This unit includes a purpose‑built midwife‑led birthing facility. The Midwife Clinical Coach will be a vital part of the team overseeing and facilitating the transition between the two buildings. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the changing shape maternity care in Taranaki.
