Job Description

As we continue to ramp‑up production at Macraes mine, we have created two new roles in the Open Pit workshop. The supervisors oversee maintenance teams on dayshift to ensure safe, efficient maintenance for the open‑pit fleet. Responsibilities include planning daily workloads, executing maintenance, managing backlog and defect repairs, and accurately recording materials and resources in the computerized maintenance management system (Pronto). The role is expected to be ~25% hands‑on with a high degree of professionalism and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance field teams (including contractors) for all activities on the assigned on‑shift roster.
  • Manage crews’ performance during maintenance execution, ensuring safety and acceptable standards.
  • Utilise contractors for top‑up and specialist labour, ensuring compliance with the Contractor Management Policy.
  • Liaise with stores regarding spares & parts holdings, including major shutdown and backlog repairs.
  • Contribute to improvements in maintenance planning workflow and assist in formulating written plans for major overhaul projects.
  • Support the Senior Supervisor with performance assessments, objectives, and training plans to develop staff.
  • Attend and repair breakdowns of the mining fleet and ancillary plant.
  • General repairs and maintenance on all mining, ancillary and support plant.
  • Replace ground‑engaging tooling (G.E.T.) and perform basic electrical repairs on fleet and plant.
  • Lead and coach to build a culture of continuous improvement and succession planning.

Qualifications

  • National Certificate in Automotive Heavy Engineering – Plant and Equipment Level 4 / 5 or equivalent.
  • Full and current driver licence; manual vehicle preference.
  • Certificates in first aid, forklift, overhead gantry, non‑slewing crane, rigging, slinging, work at height, ICAM, and mining S1 / S2 / S3 are preferred but not essential.
  • Proficiency in Pronto or similar computerized maintenance management system.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a heavy‑industry environment.
  • 5 years post‑qualification experience in repairs, maintenance, and field service of heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, trucks, drills, graders, dozers).
