OverviewLong Bay College is a co-educational secondary school located in a peaceful location near Long Bay Beach and the new Long Bay Village.

The school opened in 1975 and has approximately 1900 students with 160 teaching and support staff combined.We seek an outstanding assistant head of faculty for our faculty of social science.

Our ideal candidate will have evident strengths as a classroom teacher and in curriculum design.

They will be a leader who places high value on knowledge rich approaches and cognitive science cognizant pedagogy with the capability to drive the professional growth of the wider team individually and collectively.

In this role, the assistant head of faculty would directly support the head of faculty, lead a senior subject area (subject to specialisation and vacancy), as well as managing our junior social science programme.ResponsibilitiesSupport the head of faculty and lead a senior social science subject area (subject to specialisation and vacancy).

Manage and develop the junior social science programme.Drive professional growth of the wider faculty, individually and collectively, through research-informed pedagogy and curriculum design.Apply knowledge-rich approaches and cognitive science-informed pedagogy to improve student learning and outcomes.Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practices, assessment, and subject-wide planning.Subjects and FocusSocial science faculty offers a wide range of subjects, including history, geography, classical studies, psychology, sociology, Te Reo Maori and tourism, alongside our junior programme.

The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $61,329 to $103,086, depending on qualifications and experience.
