Regional Group Manager Asset System and Intelligence

North Island - Wellington – Wellington Central, North Island

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to New Zealanders.

We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations — from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

About the Role

As Regional Group Manager Asset Systems & Intelligence for the Central Region, you will lead the consistent application and execution of the Infrastructure and Investment Groups (IIG) policy, strategy, planning, and standardisation across asset systems and intelligence. You'll ensure regional requirements align with Health New Zealand priorities, driving improvements in asset maturity and operational excellence.

While this is a senior management role, there will initially be no direct reports. You will be expected to take a hands‑on approach and actively contribute to operational delivery while building the team over time.

This role will also work in close partnership with the national IIG Asset Management team to ensure alignment and consistency across the motu.

About the Team / Service / Location

The IIG Central team are focused on delivering high impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system within region and with alignment across the motu.

Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, the team understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well‑functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.

About you

You're an experienced leader with deep expertise in asset management and infrastructure. You thrive in complexity, balancing operational needs with long‑term strategic transformation. You bring strong technical knowledge, financial acumen, and a collaborative leadership style that fosters trust and continuous improvement.

You're confident setting strategic direction for asset management, engineering, and compliance, while fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement. You know how to influence at all levels from frontline teams to senior stakeholders and you take pride in building enduring relationships that deliver results.

Most importantly, you care. You're not just here to deliver buildings - you're here to help shape a health system that delivers better outcomes for communities. You actively contribute to a positive team environment, consistently embodying the values of Health NZ in your work. You understand that how you lead is just as important as what you deliver and you take pride in fostering a collaborative, inclusive and purpose‑driven workplace.

You Will Bring :

  • 15+ years' progressive experience in building, infrastructure, and planned maintenance environments, with at least 7–10 years in senior asset management roles.
  • Proven ability to lead large, multi‑disciplinary teams and manage complex property portfolios.
  • Expertise in asset management systems, engineering, and compliance.
  • Strong cultural competence and experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.

Working for Health New Zealand

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand. We embrace a workforce that is diverse and inclusive so that we are better positioned to understand and service our community. We welcome applications from our diverse Māori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities.
