Mo te Turanga | About the Role

We sat down with our Engineering Lead, and they let us know the following about the turanga (role).

Please note this role is Auckland based.

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?

This role is commonly known as a Senior Technical Specialist within BNZ.

You'll be working on the exciting Third-Party Risk Management simplification project into next year.

We also have initiatives running around APRA CPS 230 regulatory-driven changes.

Other regular BAU changes on risk compliance will be on our ongoing task list.

We are currently recruiting for two Senior Technical Specialist roles.

Although the same role, one position will be more closely aligned to that of a "Cloud Engineer" whilst the other will focus on "Application Configuration".

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

Being part of a transformative phase where the Archer Grace platform is evolving to support enterprise-level GRC capabilities.

The role offers significant technical ownership, with opportunities to shape architecture, automation, and integrations.

Exposure to cutting-edge cloud infrastructure and the chance to work with cross-functional teams on impactful risk and compliance solutions.

What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this turanga?

Result-drive, strong customer focus mindset, and excellent communication skills

Experience with configuration and support of Enterprise scale software.

Proficient with data analysis to support decision making

Experience applying regulatory risk, security, and data compliance requirements to solutions

Experience working in Risk governance preferably RSA Archer (GRACE)

Experience on AWS, coding in JavaScript and Python preferred.

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role would complete?

Participation in Design workshops for new Business Continuity and 3rd Party Risk features

Archer Application configuration, enhancements, troubleshooting and incident management.

Software Vulnerability management

Managing integrations, workflows between upstream and downstream systems.

Supporting platform upgrades, patches, and ongoing enhancements while maintaining best practices.

What is the most challenging part of this role?

Balancing multiple concurrent priorities across projects, enhancements, and production support.

Working in a complex risk ecosystem with several integrations and stakeholders, requiring strong coordination skills.

Driving change and influencing best practices in a rapidly evolving environment.
