OverviewKorero mo te turanga - About the roleTe Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pukenga - Lecturer or Pukenga Matua - Senior Lecturer in Marine Biology / Ecology.
This is a permanent, full-time position.
We seek a candidate with a strong research focus on temperate rocky reef ecosystems, who will use our world-class Coastal Ecology Laboratory, including wet-lab, SCUBA diving, and boating facilities.
The appointee will be expected to develop, administer, and deliver outstanding teaching into our undergraduate and postgraduate marine biology and ecology courses, including field-based courses.
Familiarity, or the desire to become familiar, with tikanga and matauranga Maori in relation to marine research is expected.
The successful candidate will be expected to recruit and supervise postgraduate students and the ability to attract external research funding, and foster research collaborations that incorporate our unique place in Aotearoa and the Pacific.ResponsibilitiesDeliver excellent teaching and contribute to course coordination across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.Establish and develop your own research programme, including attracting external funding, providing postgraduate student supervision, and disseminating research findings.Contribute to the strategic goals of the School of Biological Sciences, such as improving the student experience and recruiting and retaining underrepresented student groups.Contribute to service and leadership within the Victoria University Coastal Ecology Lab (VUCEL), School, Faculty, University and / or wider profession.
