Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

An opportunity exists for one Geriatrician to join the Mana Awhi Older Peoples Health at Te Toka Tumai Auckland.

As a Geriatrician, you will be part of a team providing assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services to older people across inpatient, outpatient and community settings. There is an active Orthogeriatric and Trauma programme, a discretionary consult service to all relevant inpatient specialties and a well-established Emergency Department (ED) Frailty service. There is the opportunity to participate in stroke rehabilitation in Te Toka Tumai Aucklands new integrated stroke unit. We have an excellent working relationship with Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP), with two Old Age Psychiatrists and a Clinical Nurse Specialist providing a liaison service to our inpatient wards. We run a memory clinic with MHSOP and a Neuropsychologist. We have a Clinical Psychologist to support us on our inpatient wards.

Mana Awhi Older Peoples Health provides inpatient and outpatient services to people aged 65 years and older. It is part of the Community and Long-term Conditions (CLTC) Directorate of Te Toka Tumai Auckland. The purpose of the Directorate is to provide quality, patient-centred, self-directed care as close to home as possible by working in partnership, enabling self-management, and promoting independence. Mana Awhi Older Peoples Health aims to provide world class assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to people sixty-five years and over to optimise their health, function, and participation.

• Current (or eligibility for) vocational registration in Geriatric Medicine with New Zealand Medical Council
• Experience working with various client groups, within an acute / post-acute hospital
