  • plus KiwiSaverAbout the RoleReporting to the All of Government (AoG) Portfolio Manager we currently have an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Specialist to join a high performing team within the New Zealand Government Procurement Branch.The Commercial Specialist AoG works collaboratively to ensure that a segment of collaborative government contracts generate the best value for New Zealand, while ensuring that agencies needs are being met.

Each Category team is responsible for a delegated portfolio / category of government expenditure.This role is a great opportunity to lead a key category within the Specialised Services Portfolio.

As the Commercial Specialist AoG, you'll take primary responsibility for the Insurance Brokering Services category.

While experience in the insurance market is a bonus, it's not essential- we're looking for someone with strong commercial acumen and a collaborative mindset.New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP), part of MBIE, supports government agencies and suppliers to deliver fair, inclusive, and efficient procurement.

We\'re a team of specialists in data, systems, communications, and contract management, passionate about using procurement to achieve broader outcomes- like reducing emissions, supporting workers, and strengthening iwi relationships.Skills and Experience RequiredCommercial experience within government, a regulatory environment, or the private sector.An ability to analyse commercial and procurement situations and to recommend and design solutions.Experience in delivering projects to scope, time and budget, and achieving successful outcomes.Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated by credibility, personal or collaborative influence, managing expectations and persuasion.Experience in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, suppliers, and colleagues.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy plans and approaches to market and procurement plans.Political nous and a working knowledge of the machinery of government.Experience in dealing with change in a complex and dynamic environment.Commercial or technical experience in relevant category or sector (desirable).
