We're looking for a skilled analyst to turn rich data into actionable insights that improve safety, accessibility, environmental outcomes, and value for money across the transport system.

We're seeking a senior statistical analyst with strong coding skills and a passion for data.

In this role, you'll work with large, complex datasets to uncover insights that support smarter decision-making across Waka Kotahi and the wider transport sector.

You'll collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to :

Access, extract, validate, merge and analyse diverse datasetsDevelop clear, high-quality insights and visualisationsProvide analytical advice that informs policy, investment and operational decisionsTell compelling stories with data that help stakeholders understand challenges and opportunitiesContribute to a transport system that connects people and places for a thriving Aotearoa

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $109,408 and $121,564 commensurate with skills and experience.

We're looking for an experienced and adaptable senior analyst who can hit the ground running.

You'll bring :

Proven experience working with large and complex datasets including relational databasesStrong SQL skills (essential), with R and Power BI experience highly desirableFamiliarity with official statistics and their communication or interpretationExcellent communication skills, with the ability to translate data into clear, engaging narratives / visualisationsUnderstanding of the Official Information and Privacy Acts (preferred)

We are not in the business of delivery; we provide guidance so other business groups responsible for delivery can align their activity to this direction.

We also have a tight focus on understanding and evaluating the impact of this delivery to hold NZTA to account and inform adjustments to its direction.
