As a Financial Accounting Specialist, your expertise will help deliver outcomes that matter – supporting investment cases, enabling commercial decisions, and ensuring financial integrity. You’ll report to the Head of Risk & Assurance and work closely with Leads and cross-functional teams, contributing to technical accounting and compliance, external audit coordination, and strategic input for Board reporting. Your day-to-day will include maintaining the Financial Accounting Framework, preparing reconciliations and financial statements, advising on contractual implications, and supporting people development within the team. You’ll be empowered to specialise, evolve methodologies, and grow your capability, all while helping Contact deliver on its vision for a sustainable energy future.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the Financial Accounting Framework; prepare reconciliations and financial statements.
- Advise on contractual implications and support external audit coordination.
- Collaborate with Leads and cross-functional teams to enable commercial decisions and tackle technical accounting and compliance tasks.
- Contribute to Board reporting with strategic input.
- Support people development within the team and evolve methodologies to grow capability.
Qualifications
At least five years’ post-qualification experience in financial accounting, ideally within the for-profit sector.Strong technical accounting knowledge, commercial acumen, and ability to link delivery to strategic outcomes.Experience in leading yourself and others, giving and receiving feedback, and managing stakeholder relationships (suppliers, regulators, and internal teams).Experience in matrixed environments is a plus; commitment to continuous improvement and inclusion.Must-have : financial accounting discipline and stakeholder management skills. Nice-to-have : experience with process improvement and technology automation.Additional Information
