Surrounded by locations of cultural, historical and environmental significance, the Te Awamutu Museum plays caretaker and advocate for some of Waipa District's richest heritage; sharing powerful and relevant stories that captivate, transform, and build connectedness with our people and our place.
The Role
We are looking for a confident and friendly person to join our small but awesome team of eight museum staff.
As aMuseum Host, you will be the face of the Museum for our visitors - welcoming them, providing information on exhibitions, activities and services on offer, and contributing to the running of events like exhibition openings and public programs.
Full training will be provided, although a keen interest in cultural and social history would be advantageous, and some front of house or customer service experience would be helpful too.
The Te Awamutu Museum has just returned toits newly refurbished home, on Roche Street, and so this is an exciting time to join the team.
Fortnightly Roster
The role is 45 hours per fortnight, as follows :
Week one (24 hours)
Monday 9 : 00am - 4 : 00pm
Tuesday 9 : 00am - 4 : 00pm
Saturday 9 : 45am - 2 : 15pm
Week two (21 hours)
Monday 9 : 00am - 4 : 30pm
Tuesday 9 : 00am - 4 : 30pm
The roster will also include alternate public holidays (9.45am - 2.15pm)
About You
To be our successful candidate, you'll need to be :
Flexible around working additional hours for exhibition openings, public workshops and leave cover occasionally.
