Senior Energy Analyst

What you'll do

We have a rare opportunity for a Senior Energy Analyst to join our Portfolio Management team in Auckland. This is an exciting, high-impact role in a complex part of our business that manages our current and future electricity portfolio, carbon obligations, and diversified fuel types - gas, oil, and LPG.

Reporting to our Portfolio Analytics Manager, your key responsibilities include :

• Lead in-depth analysis of market trends and portfolio performance, evaluating the impact of hydrology, outages, fuels, regulations, policies, and financial contracts on Genesis' risk and opportunity profile.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance reporting frameworks to deliver timely and accurate insights on current and forecast hedge positions, hydro, electricity, and gas demand, as well as generation and dispatch.
• Manipulate and explore large, complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities in energy markets.
• Provide expert analytical guidance to trading, fuels, and management teams, supporting strategic decision-making and portfolio optimisation.
• Mentor and support junior analysts, fostering a culture of analytical rigor and continuous improvement.

What you'll need

We are seeking someone with a proven track record in energy or related markets, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and impact in analysis and commercial decision-making.
