About the Role
The Mulesoft Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining integration solutions, platforms, APIs, and interfaces hosted on Mulesoft SaaS products. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the role contributes to delivering high-quality software solutions that meet the technological requirements and standards of a modern organisation. The position operates within a 24 / 7 services environment that supports a wide user base across multiple communities in New Zealand. The technology landscape includes a diverse range of business-critical applications spanning computing, networking, telecommunications, and cloud-based services, requiring robust and scalable integration capabilities.
About the Team / Service / Location
The Integration & Middleware team is part of the wider Digital Services function and plays a crucial role in ensuring Health NZ's diverse technology landscape remains connected, secure, and resilient. The team focuses on designing and maintaining scalable integration solutions that enable seamless communication between business-critical applications across computing, networking, telecommunications, and cloud services. Structured to support a 24 / 7 services environment spanning communities nationwide, the team delivers robust, reliable integration platforms that empower clinicians, operational leaders, and users. Collaborating closely with Digital Delivery and other cross-functional teams, the Integration & Middleware team drives continuous improvement to ensure digital services not only meet current needs but also support the future of healthcare across Aotearoa.
About you
You'll bring solid experience in integration development, with a strong focus on delivery and operational excellence. Comfortable navigating the full software development lifecycle, you have demonstrated success in building and maintaining services within complex enterprise environments. Experience in the health sector and familiarity with HL7V2 and FHIR interfaces is highly advantageous. You are skilled in working with CI / CD pipelines and automation tools, and proficient in multiple programming languages commonly used in cloud platforms.
