The Retail & Service Team Member is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining efficient retail and forecourt operations, ensuring compliance with safety and company standards, and supporting the daily functioning of Caltex Te Anau’s service station, cafe and convenience store.
This role combines customer interaction, sales, stock control, and operational support within a dynamic service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing friendly, knowledgeable and efficient customer service at the front counter and through various communication channels like greeting customers, identifying their needs, and assisting in the selection and purchase of fuel, convenience items, food and beverages.
- Operating POS systems, handling cash, and processing electronic payments accurately and with integrity.
- Ensuring all products are correctly priced, displayed, and stocked through proper product replenishment, stock rotation, and basic inventory reporting.
- Maintaining cleanliness and presentation of store shelves, equipment, and barista area.
- Preparing coffee and food items in compliance with hygiene and food safety standards.
- Promoting loyalty programs, upsell products, and assist with promotional activities.
- Carrying daily opening and closing duties, including till balancing and safety checks.
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures, regulatory health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Provide support to the Assistant Retail Manager in maintaining operational continuity.
- Responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues in a timely manner
- Contributing to a positive team culture and collaborating with colleagues
Refilling LPG bottles
Performing the cleaning of the store area, maintaining the facilities including the toilets, forecourt area and fuel dispensers.Skills and Experience :
Previous (1-2 years of) experience in customer facing roles in retail, hospitality, or any other field will be an added advantage.Food safety or barista training is advantageous.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong customer service orientation and the ability to provide a warm and welcoming experience.Attention to detail and numeracy and computer literacy skills for accurate cash handling, POS Operations, etc..Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings and weekends.Strong teamwork and time management.Qualifications & Experience
