Our client is a well-respected business, who have extensive experience in medical equipment, healthcare design and project management and are now shaping the future of the healthcare industry, through the design and installation of innovative “state of the art” healthcare theatre solutions and equipment, across NZ, Australia and the Pacific Islands.
We’re seeking a hands-on Design Manager to take the lead in delivering their turnkey healthcare projects, from concept to completion. This is a newly created, hands‑on role, where you’ll be right in the thick of it, guiding the design team, attending client meetings, coordinating with project and installation teams and ensuring every detail meets the strict demands of healthcare design. You’ll use Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp expertise to produce detailed working drawings and drive technical excellence across all stages of design and installation. Key Duties
- Lead the design process for healthcare projects, including operating theatres and supporting clinical spaces
- Oversee and mentor the internal design team to deliver high-quality technical documentation
- Produce detailed working drawings and specifications to support design, construction, installation and maintenance
- Manage design programs budgets, and deliverables in line with project timelines
- Support the development of design standards, processes and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in design reviews and client presentations, providing technical expertise and guidance
Experience and Skills Required
- Experience as a Design Manager or Senior Designer in healthcare environments
- Strong technical background with a high level of proficiency in Revit
- Experience with AutoCAD, and SketchUp
- Demonstrated ability to lead a design team and manage multiple projects concurrently
- Thorough understanding of healthcare design requirements and building compliance standards
- Excellent coordination, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability
- Qualification in Architecture, Building Design or a related field is preferred
- A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with exceptional organisational skills
