We are proud to have the blueprint of Aotearoa New Zealand in our DNA and our 2,500 expert professionals in 35 offices are united by the common purpose of creating positive, long-lasting impacts on the communities we serve.RolePrincipal Mechanical EngineerFantastic opportunity for a commercially and technically focused Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team.ResponsibilitiesSupport the Building Services management team in actively promoting WSP capability where opportunities exist, with the aim of creating and extending income streams for the wider WSP team.Identify market opportunities and undertake marketing initiatives to develop new and existing business markets and promote WSP services to internal and external clients.Lead preparation of bids and proposals.Complete project profiles to support future work winning opportunities.Assist in maintaining capability statements to assist with future work winning opportunities.Demonstrate and maintain technical expertise and knowledge over all aspects of Building Services, with particular emphasis on Mechanical and Hydraulics engineering.
This includes appropriate technical standards, legislation and codes of practice and technical advancements.Lead specialist technical input into the planning of projects and assist others to correctly define project scope, provide appropriate technical input and lead technical verification activities.Act as a Project Manager or Project Director as required on assigned projects.Develop a complete scope definition, identify changes to scope and implement actions to meet project objectives.
Ensure that these are communicated to the project team.Communicate critical project information (briefs, deadlines, progress and client feedback) in an effective and timely manner.Ensure that project-related quality assurance processes are carried out in a cost-effective manner, including project technical reviews, technical verifications, and approval to release.Complete monthly financial management processes in a timely manner, including billing, monthly financial and progress reports, change management and monitoring project spend.About youBSc (Hons) Mechanical (or equivalent)CPEng or in process of obtaining CPEngMinimum of 12 years' professional experience in Building Services or a related discipline.Strong market connections — particularly in Health, Private Developers, Local Government, and / or Data CentresClosingWSP NZ has proudly earned its place among the top five employers to work for in Aotearoa New Zealand, as recognised in Randstad's latest employer survey.
