About the school

Matauri Bay School is a small, whānau-centred coastal kura in Te Taitokerau. About the role

We seek an inspiring and culturally grounded leader to help shape the next phase of our kura’s journey. The principal / tumuaki will lead high-quality teaching and learning, build strong relationships and connections with students, whānau, staff and the wider community.

We are looking for someone who :

• Demonstrates strong instructional leadership and a commitment to raising achievement.
• Embodies kaupapa Māori values and honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
• Builds trusting, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, kaimahi, hapū, and iwi.
• Is visible, approachable, and actively engaged in all aspects of kura life.
• Supports staff growth, teamwork, and professional learning.
• Communicates clearly and positively.
