Medical Officer - General Medicine

General Medicine is an acute service based atAuckland City Hospital, part of theAdult Medical Services Directorateat Te Toka Tumai.

We are a leading teaching hospital and closelyassociated with Auckland University.General Medicine is the core of the medical inpatient services and is supported by a range of tertiary services that you would expect in New Zealands largest hospital complex.The General Medicine Department is looking to appoint a General Medicine Medical Officer of Special Scale (MOSS).

The primary responsibility for the MOSS is to work in the Clinical Decision Unit providing assessment, diagnosis and management to patients who present to the service.

The MOSS will also have the opportunity to develop an acute clinic along with the service leaders.

An understanding of community options and understanding of Hospital in the Home pathways is desirable.

The degree of autonomy in this role will vary depending on your level of experience but will always be supported by a vocationally registered General Medicine Specialist.The MOSS works closely with other physicians and trainees at various levels of training, from PGY-1 to fellow level.You will be either registered or be eligible for general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.Previous experience as a MOSS / staff grade / Registrar as per person specification is desirable.Please note you will be required to provide source verification of your qualifications for your registration application.
