About the Role

Phlebotomists are responsible for performing venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures with accuracy, care, and professionalism to support diagnostic testing and patient care.

This role ensures timely and safe collection, labelling, and transportation of specimens while maintaining high standards of infection control, patient confidentiality, and customer service.

The Phlebotomist contributes to the efficient operation of the laboratory and upholds the values and policies of the healthcare organisation.

As part of a restructure of phlebotomy services at Taranaki Base Hospital to support the New East Wing Building (NEWB) development, the Health New Zealand Taranaki Laboratory has several Phlebotomist opportunities available.

About you

Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand in Phlebotomy and excellent time-management skills.

Technical Competence : Proficient in venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques, with a strong understanding of infection control and safety protocols.
