Overview

Senior Engineer - 3 Waters role at WSP in New Zealand. Join a leading professional services firm working across stormwater, wastewater, and potable water systems. Based in Napier, Hawke’s Bay, this role focuses on leading innovative projects, maintaining client relationships, and delivering high-quality technical outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver high-quality investigations, analysis, and consulting services for 3 Waters projects, including preparing detailed reports and technical documents.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and produce practical, buildable designs and stormwater treatment solutions, including calculations and drawings.
  • Undertake feasibility studies and prepare reports suitable for client review and decision-making.
  • Support clients with asset condition assessments, renewals planning, and long-term infrastructure strategies.
  • Manage projects, including briefs, fee estimates, project plans, and ensuring timely and clear reporting.
  • Lead or contribute to proposals, bids, and presentations aligned with client needs and WSP’s strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with project teams and key clients, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Ensure all work meets professional, technical, quality assurance, and health & safety standards.
  • Actively participate in business development by identifying and pursuing new opportunities in the region.

What You’ll Bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline.
  • Ideally, a minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in 3 Waters engineering or a closely related field.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or working towards this.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and project management skills, with a client-centric approach.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational ability, and the resilience to thrive in a busy, changing environment.
